AMERICANTOWN'S HEROES: BAILEE RAISES MONEY FOR INJURED CHILDREN

Bailee Militello is a little girl with a big heart who donates the money she makes selling lemonade to help her neighbors. Her lemonade and helping service started in 2012 when she was eight years old. She wanted to do something for a local family whose house and belongings were destroyed by a fire, so she started selling lemonade and in a few short days was able to bring the family $1,000.

Her next fundraising effort was for children injured during the Boston Marathon. Welcoming some friends into the project, she expanded her offerings to include cookies and soon they were able to use another $1,000 raised to bring toys and gift cards to the children in Boston's Children's Hospital.

Buoyed by her success, Bailee came up with an idea to help school children. This time she would turn her attention to filling backpacks with much needed school supplies. Her project gained the attention of a politician and a radio station and they were able to fill packs for 109 children with the promise of creating a program to reach more next year.

Bailee has also sold hot apple cider to buy toys and books for sick kids in hospitals and raised thousands of dollars for a girl waiting for a heart transplant. Needless to say, her mother is very proud of her!

According to her Facebook page, she has raised $18,000 to date. That's a lot of lemons! You can learn more about Bailee's fundraising efforts at Bailee's Lemonade.
